Fall For Dance North recording by Elizabeth Roe

I recently did a distanced collaboration with Canadian cellist Arlen Hlusko for [in]verse, a recording project she curated with Fall For Dance North, Toronto’s premier international dance festival. From two different locations, we recorded Edward Elgar’s Salut d’Amour; the recording was then paired with Vanesa Garcia-Ribala Montoya’s reading of Federico García Lorca’s poem “Romance Sonámbulo” by Federico García Lorca. Music- and poetry-lovers, check out this track and the complete album here (available on demand on FFDN’s website until October 25).

Alma Ensemble Interview by Elizabeth Roe

At the end of August I had the pleasure of speaking with the three members of the Virginia-based Alma Ensemble—clarinetist Michelle Smith Johnson, flutist Sarah Wardle Jones, and pianist Erica Sipes—for the season finale of their summer interview series (featuring women in the classical music industry). We discussed music, travel, creativity, inspirations, and life; it was an absolute joy. Thank you, Alma Ensemble!

From the Top, Part II by Elizabeth Roe

Right before lockdown, Greg and I had the joy of co-hosting two episodes of From the Top, recorded back-to-back. The second of these shows is now live on NPR; you can listen on SoundCloud here:

Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe, the pianists in the popular piano duo “Anderson and Roe,” guest host the second of two episodes recorded in Fairfax, Virginia. Greg and Elizabeth collaborate with young performers on the program including a thoughtful 17-year-old violinist from Indiana who performs the music of William Grant Still and an extraordinary countertenor from Massachusetts who performs music by Handel.
